Uyo Akwa Ibom: Our Trip to Ibom Icon

Our trip to Uyo

I will start with the plane, I think I can say now that, I love to fly. Flying to new places and meeting interesting people. I am always fascinated by different traditions and the origin of cultures. Civilization seems to happen but modernization in recent times is represented by flashy wares, revealing fashion, outspoken tongues, confusing accents, and protruding stomachs but is that all there is about Modernization? Where is the development in, industrialization, agriculture, a balanced division of labor, economical prosperity that competes with other nations, more beneficial modernity? More seriously, modernization on an intensified level and a world scale bring new social and material strains that may threaten the very growth and expansion on which modern society is founded. Modern societies find themselves faced with an array of new problems whose solutions often seem beyond the competence of the traditional nation-state. At the same time, the world remains dominated by a system of just such sovereign nation-states of unequal strengths and conflicting interests. No wonder the display of corruption, callousness, and immorality. Mercy Lord.

When the plane came to a halt, my curiosity multiplied. I have not been to this place, that was the truth. A place called Uyo the capital of Akwa Ibom and speakers of the language called Ibibo. Steady but at alert beside Husband, as we moved from one door to the other, each opened. Glory to God. Modernization could work for Nigeria if there was no fault in the concept. Imagine the Church using this system instead of the Word of God, oh! Lord what error.

There it was, beautiful vegetation kept by God. The rivers glittering like a bride, embroidery of the sun rays and dark cloud starlight of spilled petroleum resources. The birth of spectacular as I gazed. It seems peaceful compared to what is happening in the North, memory flooded back, the babies burnt, the hunger, poverty, confusion, and fear. I mumbled and a threat to education, freedom, and peace, who will ever choose chaos over this?

I, snatched, by the majestic scenery, breathtaking splendor. Grounded palm trees of variety, the ones in the deserts are miracles and an exhibition of God’s faithfulness, in Uyo a symbolism of nourishment and potential. A gallery of specified flowers and plants; fresh, hopeful, proud, and needful. It ignited a desire, a thirst to explore, ask questions like a child. Beautiful! Glowing amidst a needed romance.😇

Love slipped into my mind. I began to wonder, What I felt in the presence of nature could only be love, my Father’s mighty hands reassuring. That desperate need of humans for closure, the pain, the heart beating in anticipation, all love feelings is all love. It is also love when the feeling is replaced with numbness, sacrifice, responsibility, and Vision. Children are a masterpiece worthy of unraveling. All in my head but not outside my man’s presence.😍

New churches sprung forth, the rumor of that northern war seems only muttered. The story here is cultism. The church what is its Mandate here? No one should be denied of Christ, every Soul needs to hear and test that God died for them and that, there is something greater than money, power, and food, that is God’s love for the souls of Humans. His ultimate purpose is to save humans back to Him, restoring them to His original plan.

What greater ambition to see one’s generation serving and doing the purpose of God. This is our portion.
So realizing a deeper connection between the pages of the scriptures as I listen to Amor passionately speak about the Savior, His purpose, and His return, I remembered. I remembered those memories God can only help you make. A reminder of a greater commitment to love by faith faithfully. Love believes all things.

The teachers of the law don’t speak deliverance only judgment and contempt. The preachers of Truth must first love, becoming that power given to set free. My Savior went on to reveal His delight. So while enjoying the first-class treatment of “Ibom Icon hotel”, the first of many kinds to come. I recalled myself, and what matters, Your kingdom come and will be done. It is only in His purpose will marriage relationships also thrive. 🙏

In a lighter mood, I also enjoyed the live band playing country and soul. I played like a child in their oily water until my shoulder hurt. Tested every unfamiliar food. On one of my alone outings, I ran into a green snake, I was carried away in my sweet thoughts when I heard the Holy Spirit say, ‘look!’, I turned there it was. I leaped and ran back to hubby. He looked at me and smiled while narrating. As if that snake could stop me from having fun. Paul could not be stopped by a serpent, Christ, by the way, bruised its head giving us the power to tread on snakes and scorpions. You should have seen me running through, Hilarious right, the sight? I had hoped no fellow writer sighted me from the upper balcony. I ran to fight another day, I was not ignorant of its presence then why stay? 😄

Everything has a spiritual dimension, refuse to walk, see and hear only in the physical. Our Nation though chaotic but not hopeless. I see why you want Nigeria divided but would that be His purpose, is that the way of escape or a trap? I suddenly began to wonder when Ministers will see this. When will they ask for His heart concerning Nigeria? Will they make it their purpose when told, will flesh permit them to seek peace? I would rather proclaim, “be at peace with each other Nigeria! This is not me being insensitive to the plight of the victims of Banditry, rather a call to the Answer.

This is just a bit from my trip with hubby to Uyo.
